I've followed Tracye's career since the beginning of my own vegan journey nine years ago, so I of course I’ve been looking forward to her latest book. As usual, she does not disappoint! Ageless Vegan provides the unique perspectives of a long-time vegan educator and her lovely and supportive vegan mom, proving that it's never too late (or too difficult) to eat healthily and humanely. The photos are beautiful and the recipes are easy to follow, even for avowed non-cooks. I made the Crispy Tofu Bites the very day I received the book with items I already had in my refrigerator and pantry, and they were delicious. I can’t wait to try the rest!
Last august my husband and I decided to transition into a plant based diet. We educated ourselves by reading and researching. The end of August we went to a Vegan SoulFest in Baltimore, to our surprise we ran into Tracye McQuirter. We were so excited to meet her, because I had purchased her book, " By Any Greens Necessary" the week we decided to transition. She encouraged us with our journey and shared that she would be having another book coming out in June 2018, a collaboration with her mother. I was so excited to hear she had another book coming out, but that meant I had to wait 10 months. I had a feeling of great anticipation as I waited for June 13th 2018 to come. I love Ageless Vegan! It's not only filled with delicious and mouth watering recipes that are easy to follow, its inspiring and you learn the journey of Tracye and her mom. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your journey with the world. Happy 30th year Anniversary Tracye and Ms. Mary!
This is a fabulous book! I've already made two dishes. Not only does it offer nutritious, easy to follow, whole food recipes, but it also offers good advice on the kinds and combinations of foods we should eat as we begin or continue our plant-based journeys. How fabulous is it that we hear from two generations of (30-year) vegans! Also, beautiful, clear, and easy to follow lay out with great pics!
This is more than just a cookbook; Tracye and her mother share important nutrition tips for being a healthy vegan, including their Fab Five Rules. Plus providing wonderful guidance on what foods to eat for strong bones, more protein, etc. They really encourage people to eat their colors for health and it definitely gave me inspiration! The recipes look amazing -- so far I have only made the arugula salad with caesar dressing and added in the crispy chickpeas. It was delicious! I can't wait to try some more this weekend. For each recipe, there is great information in the head notes about what health benefits you reap by eating the dish and at the bottom, they have a code for ageless antioxidants, strong bones, health is in the hue, protein dream, etc., which can help you decide at a glance what area you want to focus on. You may feel the need to eat more foods that boost bone health -- all you have to do is check the bottom of the page! And as a bonus, they suggest what dishes go well with the recipe you are perusing. I am always appreciative of cookbook authors who go that extra step. This is a book I will turn to again and again for the recipes as well as the nutritional information.
I have read a lot of vegan/vegetarian books since changing my eating habits several months ago. This is one of my favorites because it isn't pretentious or preachy. She is not a big name celebrity or doctor with a clinic or meal delivery. She does have some good ideas about how to put together a healthy vegan meal. I first borrowed this book from the library and had a long wait for it so many others wanted to read it too. After reading it I decided I wanted my own copy. That's how much I liked it.
Love it! This is a great resource book, I have been vegetarian/vegan for 35 years and I found this book to be simplistic, but a good reference for those of us who are living the life and sometimes need to be reminded. Will make an excellent gift for those who are starting the journey as vegetarian/vegan. I look forward to trying the recipes that I have not made.
This book is fantastic. Her other book, “By Any Greens Necessary†is the reason I am vegan, and this book makes being vegan that much easier. From the tips and advice to the lip smacking recipes...I was ecstatic to find the Ethiopian Platter recipe and cannot wait to prepare it. Seriously, just buy it!! 😊
I am encouraged by the recipes & narratives from Tracye & Mary McQuirter. Informative, interesting healthful information. The photos of Mary & Tracey are an added bonus. I am so glad that I purchased this book. Five excellent stars!
