Perfect visual companion for self declared mutants.

In this book you will find a skim through the history/creation of Marvel's X-Men. This book covers little bits of important things that happened through out the X-Men comics starting all the way back to the first issue that was released in 1963. You will get to know a bit about the popular characters that have graced our comic book racks since the 60's and TV screens since the 90's! This little book also gives you a bit of a glimpse at some of the artists behind the beautiful illustrations as well as the writers that have developed the superheroes and villains we have come to know and love. It will even give you a look at some of the characters that were forgotten/done away with for more developed characters. My Thoughts: I got this book as a Xmas gift because I love the X-Men. This is obviously a small book but it is perfect someone that wants just a skimming of the X-Men history. This book does give some details but it doesn't give an huge in depth look at the creation of the X-Men the way a much larger book would but it's cute and makes an excellent addition to a collection.

My going into 2nd grader and going into 5th grader LOVE their Summer Brain Quest workbooks! I'm shocked. They think they are fun. They actually like to practice their skills from last year with these. They think the map with stickers is awesome, they like the level of challenges in the book, and I'm thrilled they aren't watching garbage YouTube videos on how to make slime. Great book for car / plane trips, or sitting at the dining room table on a rainy afternoon. I highly recommend these books as well as just letting kids be outside as much as possible during summer break. Unplug the router, hide the remote, go to the library, forget your phone for a whole day, and enjoy your kids. Today is the last day they'll be this age.

PERFECT!! This is the third time I have done summer workbooks and these summer brain quest ones are perfection!! It's just a little bit to keep the brain juices flowing. One or two simple tasks each day. It's not like the ones that try to get your kid to a level where the next school year is pointless. It's not so boring that the kids cry and pack their things and run away to join the circus (*cough* Summer Bridge *cough*). I have three levels and they all match up to grade level very well (the Summer Bridge books were WAY off!). The sticker map is fun for all ages - I have one going into 2nd, one into 3rd, and one into 5th. They all appreciate how this book was made to be enjoyable!!! I think it seems a little silly to my 10 year old, but he is just grateful they're not as awful as previous books. There is much more in here than we need since their summer is only 9 weeks long and I give them the first week of summer off as well as the week we were travelling and weekends. But my little one does extra work just because it's so fun and she wants to complete her map!

I love this book! My son loves this book! He is very motivated by the map and the stickers that are included. I think that really sets it apart from other books we have tried. The exercises are good quality and he has been requesting to do his workbook everyday and he does several pages, at this rate we will be looking for another book to finish out the summer! It makes me happy to see him enjoying it, it doesn't make him feel like he is forced to work over the summer but he is still keeping his skills sharp to help with the transition into second grade.

Good if you’re looking for a very quick and basic summer refresher course for a kid going from 1st into 2nd. Not great if you’re expecting a workbook for an advanced 1st grader like a 1/2 split class. Pictures are worth a thousand words so i took a few pictures of the pages for you! Also, there are not 150 pages as advertised. The lessons end at page 124 & thats counting quite a few of the filler “success you did it” pages. The other thing I didn’t like about this book is that it asks questions about specific stories such as Cinderella and Jack and the beanstalk however does not include even a condensed version of the story in the workbook. So if you’re not already pretty familiar with some of the tales your kid won’t be able to do some of the activities. If your kid spends an average of 20 minutes a day with this they will be done in about 2 weeks.

This book was incredibly well received by my ascending into 2nd grade 7th grader. I used it in conjunction of a 'treasure box' system of small prizes upon completions of a level. Her excitement was palpable and she powered through the entire book within 1.5 months and learned retained some useful things along the way (Example: as we drive about and do things she is now identifying areas as rural, suburban or urban). The Outdoor activities are enjoyable enough, but with an only child will require a parent (or ideally two to make the games actually fun) to complete as many are competitive games.Combining this with the library summer reading program and a few select classes at the local community center has made for a balanced summer of fun, periodic laziness and learning.

Bought it to keep my twins from experiencing brain drain during the summer and to get some peace during trips. It worked like a charm. Its challenging enough to be effective and simple enough to allow them to work independently. When the new school year started they were obviously ahead of many other kids.

I purchased this for my niece who came to stay with me for the summer. She loves to learn and this was an excellent purchase. The book was not only filled with great assignments but also a Success Map as I called it. Every time she would finish a page she would get to place a sticker on the map to show completion! She absolutely loved this book so much so she would actually ask me to please let her work on it so she could earn her stickers! I loved that the book also has a section with names of books to have the child read. We went to the library instead of buying each book and it worked like a charm. Lastly, the book also has "Outside Quests" which allows the child to enjoy physical activity outside. It was summer and it was hot but she still loved completing these quests. Great Buy!

Some activities are great but you have some questions that won't have answers unless you research it. For example, they ask questions about Cinderella's story but they don't have the story in the book for the children to read it. They should have a lesson and then the questions for those kind of topic.

Behavioral economics shows events where even experts act irrationally.4- Economists need to study how people make economic decisions.5- People value the bird in the hand more than the two in the bush.6- People do not exercise perfect self control when they shop.7- People are willing to pay what they think they should have to pay. How fair the price is matters more than the actual price. So an item that costs $30 marked down from $40 is more appealing than that same item priced at $30 to begin with.8- People and businesses can be too risk adverse.9- It is ethical to drive people towards better decision making.Overall this is a light, easy to read volume, and conveys some very interesting ideas about behavioral economics. Let me start by saying I am not a fan of Econ or related subjects. I find it to be a bit on the boring side and it does not interest me at all. That being said, I found this brief Instaread to be interesting. It was easy to follow and understand. It gives the key takeaways for a book called Misbehaving by Richard Thaler. Basically it talks about the changes in the world of Economy and how humans have impacted that. I could actually relate to all of the theories on spending and money. The vocabulary was appropriate for regular people without being condescending. The examples given were relevant. The flow of the Instaread was smooth & not too repetitive. I probably won't read the actual book, but I do feel like I have a better understanding to current Economics just from reading this.*I received this Instaread for free for the purpose of reading & reviewing. My thoughts & opinions are my own.

Certainly there is some creative license taken in the story (as there is with all art) but the place it is taken is stunning. Gives you permission to think about your own questions. Beautiful illustrations. Wonderful story. You'll want to soak in every page for hours yet simultaneously trying to get to the next panel as quick as possible to learn what happens next. If you are on the fence, BUY THIS.

Art is fantastic, the story is deep and thought provokenly beautiful. If you’re at all familiar with the Christ story do yourself a favor and check this out, and if you’re not still give it a shot the art and themes are universal.

Very enjoyable, and interesting read.

Is it Canon? No. But is it a fun and fascinating read about redemption? Absolutely. Definitely worth picking up and the art is just stunning too.

This story is so excellent. Loveness hits on sho the themes of christianity. It'd be great for the nonreligious and religious alike. I heard the author talking on the Good Christian Fun podcast and it sounded like such an interesting and great story I had to check out.

BEAUTIFUL art and a great story, something to think about.

Got this book for my ten-year-old niece as a Christmas gift after a girl I was babysitting for (the daughter of my Gender Studies professor) brought it to my attention. I read it before I gave it to her, as you should with books for children, and was totally blown away! Each "rad woman" gets one page outlining what she did in her lifetime & the struggles she faced in simple language that is easy for children to grasp, while also not tiptoeing around issues such as racism and sexism. The women the book discusses include activists, athletes, artists, writers, musicians, dancers, supreme court justices and inventors, beautifully showcasing all the different things women can do to be "rad." All the illustrations are in basic black and white, the focus being on their actions rather than their appearance. My absolute favorite part of this book, however, was at the end! There was included a list of "26 Ways for You to be Rad" with such suggestions as "Inspire others," "Ask questions," "Respect the earth," and "Stand up for yourself and others."I absolutely recommend this book for people of all genders and ages as an entry point to feminism, a refresher course on some American female role models, or just an addition to your collection of feminist books!

I homeschool my third-grade daughter and was surprised that I could not find a women's-history-specific homeschool study book for her. We are using this book; I am creating a question-and-answer section. We love this book and bought it for friends' daughters who also love it.

This is a little gem of a book. Bought it for my 9-year-old niece and she hasn't put it down. What I love are the questions she's been asking me about the women profiled (how did she do that? Why have I never heard her name before? Isn't this one cool!?!). She's eating up all these stories about powerful women and I hope she internalizes the possibilities they hold up for her. Plus, the layout of this book is just adorable. Makes you want to keep turning the page. Love it.

This book is awesome!! My seven year old can't put it down!

I found the writing to be sharp and fast paced but I would have like more specifics such as dates or more meaty examples of what each Rad American Woman did in her lifetime. The drawings of the women is a touch cartoonish but fit with the multi-color block cover. The book is layout as a traditional alphabet book with a letter is for format on one side with the drawings and then a one page biography.This isn't just a history book, it is also inspirational. In fact, the 26 that the reader can do to be rad herself would make a great poster. The resources listed a good places to find more information about other important American women.

My 10yo son needed a nonfiction book to read tonight for homework so luckily I remembered I had recently bought this book and had him read it. He loved it so much he read a little longer than his required 40 minutes. I talked to both him and my daughter (8yo) that it's important because 1) it's the history of so many American women who never are written about because history is so focused on just the men and 2) the majority of the book is filled with WOC, again telling stories of the important people in our history that the history books don't ever cover. You can read this to younger children too, especially since it follows the alphabet. Each letter has a full page illustration on one side, and a page of text on the other. Highly recommend!

I like the content of this book. But the kindle edition is very hard to read as it's impossible to increase the text size, which is tiny. And my 9 year-old, advanced reader could not read this on her own. Even reading aloud to her, she commented that she understood almost none of the words. We ended up using the book more as a spring-board to discuss these women than a book, which was disappointing.
