I was anxiously anticipating saturating myself in this purchase based on the reviews, cover photo, and the Amazon buyers' product information that stated I was buying "900 pages" (since corrected)Reality Check: It might be 900 YEN - But it is NOT ~ "900 pages" (note: information has since been corrected)It is a Taiwanese Chinese & Japanese version of a hit-and-miss Leisure Arts-style pamphlet that contains 80 pages.Contrast it with this similar Japanese publication: Japanese Craft Book - Crochet Motif Edging 300 Patterns"Irish Crochet" offers 11 designs.Two of which are crocheted "necklaces".Moreover, the enticing tour de force cover photo is just another deceptive, come-on craft book anomaly.The cover design (it's their best design) -is one of only ten other designs that include:~ A purse,~ Two necklaces,~ The black shawl,~ A ceremonial presentation pillow for wedding rings,~ A granny bag,~ A tiny "pouch"and a "lesson bag"The eight Amazon images that accompany the product description page are not a preview of more to come. Rather, those images essentially represent the grand sum of the pamphlet's content, spread over 80 difficult to decipher multi-Asian language pages. That's it.I am a designer with much experience and can read the charts, or, work off their photos. Persons that could preview this pamphlet in person at hobby stands, likely would not pay for it. Now having the luxury of viewing it in person; I know I wouldn't have paid for it in America as a "sight seen" craft book.BOTTOM LINE: Even with my experience at design, working off photos, and reading charts; I view the foreign language conflict, and an Asian alphabet, - a far greater struggle to surmount than I enjoy tackling, for what I consider is a limited reward.

No English but easy to follow universal diagrams. So pretty and delicate.

What a beautiful book with stunning patterns. I don't read japanese but I will manage to muddle through at least a few of these patterns - the charts and photos are really great - it may take a bit of playing but it will be worth it! Also with on line translators and other YouTube and on line resources I'm sure I can make it work. I'd say this is for the adventurous crocheter! :-) and if you are lucky enough to either read japanese or know someone who does all the better!

The diagrams are easy to follow a worth while buy.

I don't understand Japanese!But what a beautiful book! I am looking forward to deciphering the Japanese and making a few of these projects, like the Granny bag for one. I found a website for translating Japanese crochet, so I'm excited to do that.

I had planned to have a pattern in the translated to English, but could never find anyone. I loved the scarf so much, but it did not work out. SAndy
